Not Responding

Ugh, complete moments of panic this weekend! Thursday evening, my computer locked up while I was watching a DVD and working out, and ever since, the stupid BRAND-NEW machine has been running slow, locking up, and giving me that dreading "(Not Responding)" message in the tool bar, but not letting shut down.

After frantic phone calls to Jon who always seems to fix my computer, despite me acting like a complete bitch during the whole process, we decided to back up everything and re-install Windows Vista.

After THAT, I went through hours of headache trying to re-install Microsoft Office on my computer because I cannot function without Microsoft Word as a law student. I would rather drop out. I found our version of Office that we installed last time, but it would NOT install. Sigh. Then, I found an older version that I "acquired" from somewhere...same thing. I went to be resigned to spend the money to buy the new Office version and just not eat for the next month to be able to pay for it.

When I woke up, I decided to do ONE last runthrough through all of our computer CDs to look for another version and I found the version that was supposed to be in the first box I looked in - guess the CDs got swapped. Luckily it worked, and while I still don't know our network password and it's going to take me an hour to download all my Gmail messages back onto Outlook, the crisis has been averted!!

And I promise to never download any program on that computer that is not vital to my being.
