Some of you MIGHT know this stuff about me, but maybe not!
1 - I once slept on the floor of the apartment of a member of British Parliament. Not to name names, of course, but my first week in Europe, I ran into a friend of mine from college who was heading to London for the weekend as a guest of a former member of British Parliament, whom he had met while deployed to some country or other. This kind gentleman took my friend and I out to a play, a delicious Scottish dinner, and let us crash on the living room floor of his very expensive London flat. He also took us to Cambridge where he had been the president of the debating society, and we got to see several college students kiss his ass trying to impress him with their wicked debating skills.
2 - I have slight Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. First, I am paranoid about my wallet/passport being stolen (having lost it once on a train in Washington, DC) so while I am on a plane/train/subway, I will put my hand in my bag to touch my wallet or passport at least twice during the trip, even if it's just from my house to downtown Boston! Where the hell I think my passport is going to go when I'm flying over the Atlantic is beyond me, but I still check. And I go NUTS if it gets put into a bag in the overhead compartment. It MUST be down with me. Second, I randomly run scales and rhythyms through my head, and I tap my fingers, my teeth, or flex my leg/arm muscles to match the scales. It's not noticeable, really. I don't realize that I do it.
3 - I had no doubt in my mind when I was young that I would be Miss Indiana. Where all that overconfidence went (probably disappeared when my nose got too big for my face and my breasts too small for my body) I have no idea, but I seriously thought that I was a shoo-in. I would go to sleep at night thinking about what color dress I would wear. As a result, my sisters and I were huge pageant watchers. Now, my envious girl-nature doesn't allow me to watch them without turning a horrible shade of green.
4 - I am a speed reader. This has its pros and cons. Pro: I can read books really fast (duh) Cons: I don't digest material well. I can tell you what a story was about, but can't remember details. Just today, I finished a book (Little Children) and was reading the plot of the movie on Wikipedia. When it mentioned something horrible that happened at the end, I couldn't say for sure if that had happened in the book. I had to pull out the book and reread the last few pages to see (it didn't.) This is what scares me about law school - my inability to digest material I read quickly. However, it does allow me to keep all the books that I buy, reread books over and over, and has provided me with a rather extensive personal library.
5 - I don't have my ears pierced. For someone who enjoys fashion, shopping, and accessories as much as I do, this one passed me by. First, I was too afraid when I was young to get them pierced. Then, it just kind of built up into this horrible experience that I didn't want. Next, I joined the military where you can't wear earrings, so I used the excuse that "I can't take time off from work just to wear earrings for a few weeks". Now....well, I'm not sure what's keeping me back now, other than the fact I take some weird sort of pride in not having them pierced. Maybe someday....
Now, apparently this is some type of chain blog that goes around and you're supposed to tag others to list five things - but no one tagged me, so I won't do that. But I DO encourage you to try to think of some things that not many people know about you.
