The next presidential election is in 2008, just two years away. Already THIRTY people have announced they are running. THIRTY!. Holy crap, I know I said it's just two years away, but it's STILL TWO YEARS AWAY! Who are these thirty folks? Check out http://www.thenextprez.com/2008/candidates_2008.htm for a full list. Those big party folks who have announced aren't really name-brand:
DEMS:
Joseph "I'm cool - you can tell by my loosened tie" Biden(D-Delaware)
Randy "There's a reason my picture is so small on my site" Crow (D-NC)
Mike "Mini-Me pops up on my webpage and scares people" Gravel (D-AK)
REPS:
John "Picture of Reagan on my webpage" Cox His name is so common it's 8th on the list when you Google it...and he's running for president.
Michael "I play the tuba!!" Smith Couldn't FIND this guy on Google
I would just like to point out that neither of the announced Republicans seem to work in government today. Smith works for HP in Oregan and I'm not really sure what John Cox does.
Anyway, it's hardly like me to not have an opinion, so, for the moment, I'm throwing my vote to Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) who is from my home state. Senator Bayh is a former governor and current senator from Indiana. He went to IU, U of VA for law school, and served as Sec. of State for Indiana before becoming the governor at the age of 32 - the youngest in the nation. Blah blah blah, I could go on, but do your own research!!
But, along with good comes bad, so here's my Evan Bayh (pronounced BYE, by the way) good and bad list:
Good:
Favors a ban on late-term abortions
Has the All America PAC program where he finds other do-gooders that need support throughout America www.evanbayh.com
A man in the middle: He's a conservative Democrat, and while most people fear the man in the middle, aren't we really all men in the middle? In fact, he OWNS Indiana, a staunchly Republican state. In the last election, he won 62% of Indiana for Senate. President Bush? 60%. Oh yeah.
Not afraid of jumping into Iran stuff: introduced a resolution calling for sanctions for Iran. Even threatened them with an uninvite to the World Cup and wrote Angela Merkel (Prez of Germany) and asked her to do the same. Hit 'em where it hurts. Takes balls to mess with a Middle Easterners love of soccer!
Aims to break partisan stalemates
Obtained one of the most stable state economies in the US while governor, without raising taxes in those 8 years. Let's bring it to the nation!
Bad:
Pro-Choice - this is my least favorite thing about him, but let's face reality. A Republican White House and a Republican Congress didn't ban abortion in the last four years, so why would another Republican?
No military experience - Sigh. I really think the Commander in Chief should have served at some point, I really do. However, seeing some of the jacked up folks in the military first hand, I'm not saying it would be that much benefit - I would just feel better.
So, I'm still doing research to expand my knowledge of Senator Bayh and all the possible candidates and will continue - I urge everyone to take a look at who's out there. Hilary Clinton, John McCain, and the other big names are still waiting to announce...as is Evan Bayh.

I say we elect Capt Alison Hanger! "Vote for Hanger you can really hang your future on her."
Hey! I met Evan Bayh and had my picture taken with him because I'm such an excellent student. :) He asked me where I was from and even remembered that we had the Corn Festival. Haha. But I do agree that he would make an excellent candidate. Love you sister.
Damien lives in Corvallis, Oregon...AND works for HP! With that sort of connection, I'm a shoe-in to be the VP.
On the other hand, he talks about living in Ireland and how his kids' school fair had a bottle of whiskey as a raffle prize. He says this as if it's a bad thing... Maybe our views on education are too different for us to work together.
Drink early, drink often! That's my educational platform. Vote for me!
