Eerily Accurate

Who doesn't read their horoscope for fun? I like to read mine at the end of the day, so I can REALLY get an idea if it was right or not. And today, it eerily was. Thus the title of the entry: EERILY ACCURATE.

The horoscope said "A realization of how much your view have changed might hit you at this time." Craziness, because today, and I SWEAR this happened, I was actually thinking about how much my view on gay rights has changed since I was a kid. Growing up, small-town America, lots of church. We learn that homosexuality is wrong. And this says nothing against my town or the church in which I was raised, because I love them, it's just that my views are just different now than they were growing up. Today, Connecticut voted to legalize gay marriage and i change my facebook status to "Three down, 47 to go!" indicating that of the 50 states, 3 of them have made gay marriage legal.

Who decides who you love? Isn't marriage one of those fundamental rights as people that we should have? The Courts seem to think so, as marriage is deeply rooted in our country's tradition and history, and with this recent trend in legalizing gay marriage, marriage between same-sex couples is about to become a new tradition in America.

So, the stars were dead on today, as I spent a little time reflecting how I once was confused and ignorant about homosexuality, and didn't understand or appreciate how people of the same sex can love each other the way people of the opposite sex love each other. And now I do.
