Hallelujah, it's time to move into our first real home that we own outright (except for that pesky mortgage...). We've been packing and slowly moving little things from the craphole house we live in now to our new house and it's time to move the big stuff tomorrow.
Why so excited? Well, besides the idea of owning a house, there are two reasons: 1) Our current house sucks and 2) Our new house is awesome. Here's a little comparison.
Old house: rental, Frankenstein wiring, out of control plants, ruined hardwood floors, was ROBBED last year, 15 minute walk from the T, disgusting landlord, leaking basement that molded a lot of stuff, radiator in the bedroom clanks so you can't sleep, no heat in the other bedroom, no dishwasher/garbage disposal, in a town where you have to pay to put out trash, no AC of any kind, 2 1/2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bath.
New house: own, 5 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, 2400 square feet, restored Victorian, beautifully patterned hardwood floors, ginormous granite kitchen with dishwasher/disposal, nonleaking basement, tons of extra storage, whole 3rd floor is a big bedroom with its own bath, comes with 2 windows ACs, 5 minute walk to the OCEAN, 6 minute walk to the commuter rail, ceiling fans in all bedrooms, giant front porch.
So you can see, this is better. And, given some of the places we've stayed in, I think we deserve this nice place, even if it's just for a little while.
