At last, at last!!

Jon and I have been spending what little free time that we have this fall looking for an apartment. This past summer, while Jon was deployed, our landlord told me that he was planning on selling the apartment we live in now and that we had to move by February. So, I resigned myself to packing up about 1/2 of our stuff. Lo and behold, Jon comes home and the landlord tells us that we do NOT have to move now (thank you, poor housing market!)but since so much was already packed, we decided to look around anyway. Our apartment is pretty tiny, and it's a good time to rent, so it was worth a look.

We had a couple of pretty bad disappointments. We looked at an amazing 4 bedroom, bath and a half apartment just a few blocks away (we love this area) and it was cheap cheap cheap! We said that we wanted it, but the landlord refused to sign a year-long lease and said that he intended to increase the rent in a few months by 800-1000 bucks. Um, no thanks.

Next we had our worst disappointment in a gorgously rebuilt half of a house from the early 1900s. I can't explain how pretty this place was. The landlord was really nice, and seemed to be 100% ok with our wanting a long term lease...until we left and she changed her mind. She ignored our emails for a while and finally said that since her goal was to sell it, she wanted someone for a shorter term. Ugh.

After Jon played the trooper and looked at a million places and I was ready to unpack our stuff, Jon found a place in Malden...a whole house! It's got 3 bedroom, a bath and a half, a little yard, and it's within walking distance to the orange line. The landlord said that we could paint wherever we wanted and she would pay us back for the paint and we are willing to put in a little time to really make it a great place. It's not too much to look at now, but it's going to be AWESOME by the time we host my 30th birthday party!!!

Will post before and after pictures as we get them!!
